I had not heard that Jay Z has decided to stop using the word “bitch”. I think that’s awesome. But this quote acts like Blue Ivy deserves whatever misogyny she gets in life because of her dad’s actions, which, no, just no.
As for Jay Z, I’m impressed that he’s recognized a problem in his music and plans to change it in the future. He didn’t originate this language and he was hardly the first to make a fortune from it. He’s responsible for perpetuating it (though his daughter is NOT), but by taking this stand now, he may get other musicians and men to reconsider how they use the language. We can’t change the past, but we can learn from it and move forward.
