glymr and I have been letting this series ride on the back burner for a while, but we’ve recently uploaded the whole thing on Archive of Our Own, where we just posted a new story called Family Vacation.

Kings Among Runaways is a Jason/Tim fanfic series (now at 23 stories), which we’ve been describing as “The AU where Tim ran away from home at the tender age of mumbledyteen, and Jason got let off with a warning, the night he met Batman.”

If you’ve been waiting, oh, 2 years or so, for us to finally update this darned thing, today is your lucky day!

Updates may be sporadic, but each part is generally self-contained. Hope you all like it! Let us know!

Did you estimate what mpg your car is getting? Did you figure out how many hamburgers you could get for six bucks? Did you think about how long it would take you to get somewhere given the speed and distance? Did you plan a meal so all the components would be done at the same time? Did you encounter anything on sale? Did you figure out how many groceries you could get for how much money you had?

There are about a million other daily, unconscious tasks that use algebra or at least algebraic thinking. Just because you weren’t writing out an equation or employing variables doesn’t mean you weren’t using the skills that algebra and other math courses taught you.

Science and math aren’t important because you’re going to need to know the exact steps of photosynthesis or the quadratic formula. They’re important because they teach you scientific and mathematical literacy and rational thinking, and that is sorely needed in a world where charlatans and cheats or people with a political or religious agenda can get away with all manner of pseudoscience and bullshit because people don’t have enough scientific literacy or critical thinking skills to accurately weigh the arguments or even discern where they fail logically.

So study math and science, and art, and literature, and history, and politics, not because you’re going to need it or it’s going to do something specific for you, but because an uninformed populace is bad for the world.

people seriously need to take a step back and look at how sketchy this smgo deal is

a) the prizes they list are of items they have no right in making. yj season 3 comic? paying someone to make sculptures of dc properties? i know this from the jl8 web comic: you aren’t allowed to create and then sell any products that contain images that belong to DC, or in this case WB.

b) i still stand with my Veronica Mars reasoning: they barely hit $5mil. they most likely had a larger fanbase. how will this succeed from just a few hundred fans off of tumblr?

c) they have no legal right to start such a fundraiser. i’m no law student but i’m pretty sure even if the goal is met, WB will not be able to accept any of the money.

d) why would WB want to bring back a show that offered no viable profit to begin with, according to them, and then make it ad-free and in hd (meaning smgo’s plans is for web series) (hint: i’m pretty darn sure this means there’d be almost no revenue here)

this entire deal is sketchy

i’d calmly like to ask people to stop donating money until there’s official official word from somebody we can trust i.e someone who worked on either show or a WB employee

Reblogging this with request for everyone to be VERY careful when it comes to their mulah. Not saying SMGO has any ill intentions, but U have no idea if they know the legal ins and out to this. Brandon V already said to not donate without permission from WB.

If we get the yes, I will jump at the chance to donate. Not keeping up with the ins and out of whats going on, but reblogging any info that might help me when I get the time to sit down and read/listen/watch everything concerning this campaign.

This is what a lot of us are talking about when we say “this sounds iffy/sketchy.” ESPECIALLY concerning points A and D. The products that will be made are not going to get WB a profit…which is what they were so worked up about in the first place.

To be completely honest, after going over this list and watching the videos again, I’m starting to think that maybe WB rejected SMGO’s proposal for more reasons than SMGO is letting on. :/

Precisely. This is looking increasingly ill-advised and sketchy to me, because they don’t have the rights to be making these promises they’re making. Most of these rewards are just flat out not feasible even if they were allowed. Figure licensing/creation/character likenesses have to go through a lot of folk from DC Collectibles to Mattel to WB and others. The ability to digitally stream content is locked up in whomever currently holds those licenses ant are set by regions.

Everything listed above are all potential additional reasons that WB may have said no beyond a belief that we cannot hit the money mark. I’d like to believe their intentions are good, but nothing about this looks realistic and it’s legally grey at the best interpretation. I want the shows back too, but this is looking less and less like a good way to go about it.

I cannot and am not trying to tell people what to do here, but for the love of sanity please look hard before you leap.

So Injustice!Damian got me thinking…

I think he’d be a combination of Robin + Nightwing + samurai/ninja-assassin. He’d work solo and mostly down-low, like Cass, but can be flashy at times due to his experience as Robin. Although I like the escrimas, they’re really Dick’s signature weapon, so I thought to modify them a little bit to also be inspired by his League heritage. They’re like bokuto and don’t actually cut anything, but Damian probably hits pretty hard, so villains beware. :p

I really like this design.

I’m excited to share with you the final cover art (Korra drawn by Joaquim Dos Santos and painted by me, with a background painting by Fred Stewart) for the upcoming Korra Book One: Air art book, published by our good friends at Dark Horse Books. This was a real labor of love (heavy on the labor) for Mike, Joaquim, and me and all those who helped as we put this book together, and we are so proud of all the great artists’ work inside and can’t wait to share it with all of you. The plan is to do one of these art books per “book” of Korra (so four total), which is daunting yet fantastic.

Rating: Mature.
Warning: Violence, blood and death.
Current fic word count: 28k
Summary: Jason Todd of District Eight can only save his sick mother if he gets her to a Capitol doctor. But the only way a District nobody can get the wealth and status needed to see a Capitol doctor is to win the Hunger Games. He knows it’s a long shot, but the only other option is to watch his mother die slowly.

He gets the local victor, Talia al Ghul, to teach him and volunteers for the Games, ready and trained to kill. But no training can prepare him for the hardships he’s about to endure. Or for what happens when allies become friends and there can only be one victor.
