Correct me if I’m wrong, but Ben Edlund is a Consulting Producer who sometimes writes and even directs episodes

emony:

He’s not a staff writer, right? So if he wasn’t going to write any more episodes, he wouldn’t be “leaving”, he just wouldn’t write any more. If he is leaving, it must refer to his Producer role. Which is worse. So I wish I hadn’t had this thought. Doh.

Dont’t know the specifics of this situation, but a “producer” title usually just means a writer is a member of the writing staff that ranks above “staff writer”. So if he’s left the show, he’s probably not going to be a producer anymore, either.

akoyam asked: “Kripke shared that Gaiman appeared to be familiar with Supernatural, which he said in the past is heavily inspired by Gaiman’s work. (Yesterday, he told THR that Supernatural is “Sandman meets American Gods”).
“When I saw [Gaiman], I said, ‘Just so you know, I rip you off all the time for the show,’ and he said, ‘I really appreciate that because you and Kevin Smith have both been very public about ripping me off, and I don’t mind if people rip me off, I just want them to be public and admit it,’ ” Kripke said.”

This is… this pushes all of my transformative-works-buttons. Also, I’m glad it wasn’t just my imagination being all CROWLEY IS FROM GOOD OMENS. LIKE, DIRECTLY LIFTED. And that whole bit with the gods. And the apocalypse being a giant family feud. Very Gaiman.

By the end of season 5, I was like, “they have to have read Good Omens!”.  It’s cool to know they’ve acknowledged the source.

#I still love the show just wish they would stop their shit

Ugh, SPN is so problematic.  I keep swearing it off but somehow I always get sucked back into it again, usually by the cracky meta stuff.  But argh, it can get so bad.  (Like the Whore of Babylon episode.  ”Let’s go kill a whore.”  GAAAHHHH.)  And some parts of the fandom are so horrible.  Why can’t we just have nice things?
